How
to turn the water off in the event of a leak
A customer
noticed a damp area in the dirt at the rear of her property. Upon closer
inspection, a broken water pipe, which had leaked gallons of water was
discovered. Because the customer is responsible for all water that flows
through the meter, this mishap cost the customer nearly $750. Check for
leaks periodically and learn how to turn the water off until you can get the
leak repaired.

TO TURN WATER OFF...
At the main supply line to the house
Close the Customer Main Line Valve (clockwise) where the line enters the
building.
At the meter
Open the Water Meter Box that is usually located near the curb or property
line in front of your house. Turn the Customer Courtesy Valve (clockwise)
one-quarter turn. Turning it counterclockwise could destroy the valve.
At a Sink or toilet
Turn off the valves (clockwise) located underneath the fixtures.
If you do not have a Customer Shut-off Valve, call (760)
955-9885.
