 Effluent Disposal Site

The effluent outfall system terminates at a receiving channel and flood-irrigates a pasture area of the Las Flores Ranch in Summit Valley. During emergency, the flow can also be diverted to the adjacent sand beds for percolation. The District has an agreement with the Las Flores Ranch to accept treated effluent. Disposal is upon land owned by the District and Las Flores Ranch. The disposal facilities have one monitoring well upstream and three monitoring wells located downstream from the discharge area. Groundwater from these wells is tested quarterly for COD, Nitrate and depth of water. The wells are tested quarterly for BOD, MBAS, TOC, TDS, Chloride, Sodium, Total Nitrogen and Sulfates.
